I’ve always been fascinated with how much free content other bloggers give to their readers. I’m doing the same with articles, the podcast back in the days, and over 10 downloads for anyone who subscribes to the free newsletter. But one thing I never sat down to create was an online course. And these seem to help people the most.
About How to Make Your First Money Online Freelancing
While the skill I was passionate about and decided to invest time in is writing, for you it could be anything else that you’re interested in and naturally good at. The point is to start offering your services online so you can build a brand, find your first client and earn money.
That’s just the beginning. If you continue investing time and efforts into your freelance side hustle, you will eventually make enough to leave your day job and start working online full-time from the comfort of your home. You can do that while traveling too.
Freelancing is what allowed me to believe it’s possible to make money online. Thanks to that and to Let’s Reach Success, I’m a location independent freelance writer, moved to another country to start a new life, and enjoy waking up whenever I want to and setting up my own working hours.
In this free course, I share the steps I took to get to that first paying client, to build my portfolio starting from scratch, to become someone in my niche, and to eventually design the lifestyle I want thanks to the income from that work.
Here’s what you will learn in How to Make Your First Money Online Freelancing.
- Lesson 1: Starting While at Your Regular Job (And Why Freelancing)
- Lesson 2: How to Find Your Niche
- Lesson 3: The Best Way to Build Your Portfolio
- Lesson 4: How to Quickly Create Your New Website
- Lesson 5: Branding Yourself as a Freelancer
- Lesson 6: Join Platforms for Freelancers and Start Pitching
- Lesson 7: How I Made Over $10,000 on Upwork, And How Can You
What Inspired Me to Create My First Online Course
I did that at the end of March 2018 for a few reasons.
First, I wanted to be more helpful with the content I create. Over the past few months, I’ve been writing more about the challenges I overcame back in the days to be able to start earning from blogging, move to another country, live the way I want, etc.
Second, I took my first online course Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. And while it’s paid (and super practical), I did get inspired to create something similar on my own. The platform it was on allowed me to get it done in less than an hour, by the way. More on that in the next section.
Third, it’s on a topic I know enough about to be able to turn that into a step-by-step course that can actually help people get started with freelancing.
Also, I wanted to learn how to create another digital product.
How I Created The Online Course
I used my new favorite platform for online courses – Teachable.
I haven’t even paid to be able to use their system, marketplace, theme, design elements, etc. In less than an hour, I was able to have the course up and running. I’ve heard about Teachable many times before but thought it would be complicated. Well, it’s not.
They gave me my own domain name at letsreachsuccess.teachable.com, allowed me to design a sales page and homepage, to add any type of content to the lessons in the course, to have my own dashboard and see stats and sales, and much more. It really is an all-in-one solution for online courses.
Why a Free Course
It’s not too long, yet I invested hours to come up with the content and organize it in easy to follow steps. Such courses should be free though as they just motivate people to get started and share the first actions. From then on, everyone else does it differently and follows a different path.
Maybe I will have a much bigger course one day that I will charge for. And it will take weeks to create it and I’ll share everything and anything about freelance writing, making money from a blog, earning from sponsored posts, or else. But for now, I’ll be having free courses.
This won’t be the last one either so please share with me what topic you’d like to see a free course on. You can use the contact form here to let me know.
Ready to Start Making Money Freelancing?
Many new doors will open up once you enter a niche and start building a name for yourself in it.
In the course, I also share the exact way in which I pitch freelance clients, how I found my passion to choose my niche, what sites to use to find your first freelance gigs, how to turn your freelancing into a real brand and start being recognized, how to create a unique portfolio, and more.
Cheers and hope to see you on Teachable, either as a student to one of my courses or as a teacher with your own products soon.
