This is an interview with Catherine B. Roy.
Hey, Catherine. Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.
I’m delighted to be here. Thank you! My mission is simple: to empower people to pursue what they’re passionate about and enjoy the freedom that comes with it.
My background is as diverse as it gets, spanning from a 15-year career as a programmer to becoming a business and personal growth coach, a bestselling author, and a sought-after keynote speaker.
Some of my achievements include joining esteemed communities such as the Forbes Coaches Council, UN Woman Expo, VISA She’s Next, Microsoft Leadership Enablement Community, and Goldman Sachs 10KW. These titles reflect my unwavering dedication to empowering individuals. I’ve also had the honor of being recognized as a thought leader for four consecutive years. My journey reached its pinnacle with the authorship of the bestselling book “Live from Your Heart and Mind.“
My passion lies in helping people unearth their potential, expand their online businesses, and live lives they genuinely adore.
Ultimately, I’m committed to making personal and professional growth accessible to all, regardless of their location, and providing the support that countless aspiring entrepreneurs crave.
What’s your educational background and how did it help your business journey?
My educational journey has been a rich tapestry, instrumental in shaping my business trajectory. It commenced with four years as a psycho-linguistics researcher in a science center, providing profound insights into human communication and the profound role of language in shaping our perception of the world. This understanding is a cornerstone of my coaching and writing work.
My academic journey continued with a degree in business information systems from the Faculty of Economics. This provided a sturdy foundation for comprehending the intersection of technology and business. It paved the way for my subsequent 15-year role as a web programmer in a prominent financial firm, where I refined my technical skills and deepened my grasp of online systems.
My quest for knowledge persisted with an MBA module in IT management, further bridging the chasm between technology and business. This unique blend of education and tech industry experience has undeniably fueled my success.
But the journey didn’t stop there. I pursued certifications in assertive communication, emotional intelligence, rapid transformational hypnotherapy, NLP, and even completed the prestigious Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Program for Business Development.
These certifications enriched my coaching acumen by imparting a profound understanding of personal growth and transformation. In fact, I’ve immersed myself in 18 personal growth programs to date.
When did you get into business and personal development?
In 2008, my journey into business and personal development took a profound turn. Battling a severe Coxsackie virus diagnosis, I sought healing in a monastery. This marked the start of my quest for personal growth.
My life had already been shaped by significant challenges, including surviving the former Yugoslavia bombings, which instilled resilience and strength in me. This led me to explore psychology and linguistics, igniting my passion for understanding the human mind and language’s influence on our lives.
This initial exploration triggered a series of personal and business growth programs. I completed 18 personal growth programs and countless business courses, emphasizing the significance of higher awareness aligned with my life’s purpose.
These transformative experiences helped me overcome fear and embrace love, kindness, and integrity, values that now guide my journey and work.
My personal development journey catalyzed my mission to empower others, enabling them to unlock their potential, follow their passions, and live free lives. It’s an ongoing journey, and each step is cherished.
What was your first business venture and how did it go?
In 2010, my first business venture, “Happy Bean,” was a heartwarming concept. We imported beans with laser-engraved messages, planted them in cups inside small boxes, and watched messages like “Love” and “Thank You” grow with the plant.
While “Happy Bean” didn’t reach the success we hoped for, it taught me essential entrepreneurial lessons about creativity and meaningful gestures. This experience reinforced my belief in heartfelt ideas and became a stepping stone for my journey, shaping me into someone dedicated to making a positive impact in people’s lives.
When and why did you become a coach?
My coaching journey began in 2006, representing youth at NGO conferences, igniting my passion for mentoring and coaching.
In 2017, I published “Live from Your Heart and Mind“, a bestseller introducing the transformative LHM system. This marked the start of my coaching path, as people sought guidance in applying this system.
In 2019, Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Women program certified me, solidifying my commitment to personal and business growth. My coaching journey is rooted in experiences, purpose, and a desire to empower others, allowing me to guide them to unlock their true potential and lead purposeful, free lives.
How did you go about finding your first clients?
My initial clients were people I met in various Facebook groups, sharing a common passion for growth. However, it was on LinkedIn that my journey took an exciting turn. I unlocked the platform’s potential and became known as the “LinkedIn Wonder Woman.”
Embracing this role, I transitioned into a coach, guiding others to succeed on this powerful platform. My journey is a tapestry of connections, growth, and transformation, leading me to this point as a guide and an inspiration to others on their empowerment journey.
What are the main projects you’re working on now?
Currently, I’m deeply dedicated to my project, LHM Academia. It’s not just a project; it’s a vision coming to life.
LHM Academia will be a central hub, more than just an e-learning platform. It’s where individuals can access a treasure trove of resources for personal and business growth. It’s my way of sharing the knowledge and experiences I’ve accumulated over the years.
The vision is to create a comprehensive ecosystem for growth and development, encompassing both business and personal transformation. It’s about offering diverse materials, expert insights, and engaging content for a holistic learning experience.
LHM Academia aims to make empowerment more accessible, providing the tools for individuals to flourish in today’s ever-evolving world. It’s a platform for people to tap into their potential, take charge of their destinies, and confidently pursue their passions.
In essence, LHM Academia is a commitment to bettering individuals and the global community. It’s my way of making a meaningful and lasting contribution, impacting lives and inspiring change.
What is it like being a MENSA member?
Becoming a MENSA member was a turning point in my life. As a child who faced bullying and struggled with self-confidence, it held profound significance.
My journey into MENSA began unexpectedly. A friend proposed a project involving MENSA, and I took the IQ test almost on a whim. To my surprise, it revealed an IQ over 156, which MENSA’s tests are designed to measure. This discovery was a catalyst for my self-confidence and personal growth.
MENSA membership shattered old labels and emphasized the power of self-belief. It taught me not to let others define my worth and fueled my passion for learning and personal development.
Beyond a certificate, MENSA symbolizes the potential within us. It’s a testament to the transformative power of self-discovery and contributes to my mission of helping others unlock their true potential.
MENSA marked the start of my journey to empower individuals to recognize their brilliance, a journey that continues to inspire me today.
How did you become a Forbes Coaches Council member and what doors did that open to you?
Becoming a Forbes Coaches Council member marked a pivotal achievement, affirming years of dedication and unwavering commitment. It all began with media appearances, summit contributions, and organic online growth, which established me as a thought leader.
LinkedIn played a vital role in connecting me with Forbes Books, ultimately leading to an invitation to join the Forbes Coaches Council. This prestigious community provided a platform to publish on Forbes.com, expanding my reach and refining my content with professional guidance.
Beyond this, it introduced me to a remarkable, like-minded community of individuals making a genuine impact in their fields. The connections forged through this network have been invaluable.
Forbes Coaches Council isn’t just a title; it signifies a commitment to excellence, learning, and impact. It’s a testament to the potential within us and an inspiration for the journey ahead.
What contributed the most to building a large and engaged audience over the years?
It’s all about Human 2 Human connections. It’s the magic that happens when you establish a meaningful, authentic connection with just one person who can open the door to 10,000 more.
I’ve developed my own method, which I call the “A list,” and it’s a game-changer. It’s all about connecting with the right people, and when you do that, exponential growth is inevitable. It’s a testament to the power of genuine, one-on-one connections in our digital age.
What platforms do you use for that?
I maintain a presence across various platforms, but if I were to pick a favorite, it would undoubtedly be LinkedIn.
This platform has played a pivotal role in my journey, earning me recognition from Google as a public figure with over 50 million search results at one point.
It’s my primary avenue for connecting with my audience and sharing my message. Each platform I utilize has its unique role, but LinkedIn holds a special place in my heart.
Tell us about your book.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to my bestselling book, Live From Your Heart And Mind. It’s a self-improvement book that reveals the secrets, tools and techniques to the simplicity of connecting your heart and mind while achieving greater satisfaction and success in life.
Achieving a balanced, happy and successful life by developing the emotional and intellectual potential of every human being and setting these in balance is the theme and main goal of this new, unique system.
My system consists of two major components: emotional and intellectual. The emotional part is based on unique and verified LHM formulas and LHM algorithms in the fields of balance, happiness, belief, overcoming obstacles, love, sadness, friendships, morale values, the power of thoughts and words, and peacefulness.
The intellectual component successfully raises one’s mind and mental capacity through the application of associative memory techniques and LHM IQ training questions. It especially creates the foundation for activating long-term associative and functional learning.
Reconfiguring emotions to embrace peace and harmony and raising mental capacity and creating balance between these two sides will allow every human being to recognize the extraordinary life they can live. And which each of us can actualize and achieve with the LHM system.
This book is a result of 10-years of learning and researching in the fields of psycho-linguistics, emotional and intellectual growth.
How did you launch it? What marketing activities helped you hit the bestseller list?
Delighted to share my book’s journey to bestseller status, underlining the power of human connections.
An instrumental connection was Bryant McGill, a renowned author and Nobel Peace Prize nominee. His and his wife’s generous support and their engaged online community significantly contributed to my book’s success.
I had previously invested substantial effort in his Royal Society Facebook group, creating content and connecting with members. His endorsement and his community’s support were pivotal.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without my dedicated editor, Patrick P. Stafford. He meticulously prepared the book, refining content, and providing valuable marketing strategies, including social media growth, interviews, and press releases.
In essence, the path to bestseller status was a collaborative effort, driven by authentic connections and the willingness to share knowledge and opportunities for collective success.
What are the key daily habits that keep you sane and productive?
Absolutely, I’d be happy to share my daily habits for staying sane and productive. These are the cornerstones of my routine:
Quality Time with My Son: One of my most cherished daily habits is spending time with my 7-year-old son. We have a blast together, and his laughter and curiosity are a wonderful source of joy and inspiration in my life.
Prioritizing Sleep: Ensuring I get a good night’s sleep is paramount. A well-rested mind is a productive mind, and it’s a non-negotiable part of my daily routine.
Personal Growth Practices: I’m a firm believer in the power of personal growth. Every day, I dedicate time to meditation, manifestation, and rapid transformational hypnotherapy. These practices help me maintain clarity, focus, and a positive mindset.
Healthy Eating: Lately, I’ve been putting extra effort into maintaining a healthy diet. Proper nutrition not only impacts physical health but also plays a significant role in mental well-being.
Limiting News Consumption: I’ve found that tuning out from the constant influx of news can be a game-changer for mental peace and productivity. I focus on what truly matters and avoid the stress that excessive news can bring.
Therapy: Seeing my therapist once a month is an essential part of my self-care routine. It’s a space for reflection, growth, and emotional well-being.
These daily practices help me strike a balance between my personal and professional life, keeping me grounded, focused, and productive.
Any mind-blowing books you’ve read lately?
I appreciate your question! Currently, I’m diving into “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki once again. It’s one of those timeless books that always has something new to offer with each read.
My current focus, however, is directed towards e-learning, and I’m on an exciting journey exploring various courses and programs.
One program that’s truly been mind-blowing is “The Art of Manifesting” by Regan Hillyer, which I found on the MindValley platform. It’s a transformative experience that delves into the art of turning dreams into reality and manifesting one’s deepest desires.
The journey through this program has been enlightening, offering fresh perspectives and insights that I’m eager to integrate into my life and share with those I connect with. It’s a testament to the constant evolution and growth that we can achieve through learning and self-discovery.
What’s next for you and your business?
Absolutely! Right now, my primary focus is on the exciting launch of my new e-learning platform, LHM Academia. It’s a project close to my heart, as it’s not just about business; it’s about empowering individuals with knowledge and resources for both personal and professional growth.
I’m also working diligently on connecting with marketing agencies. My goal is to collaborate with agencies that share my vision and can help me reach as many people as possible. It’s all about extending a helping hand to as many individuals as I can, assisting them in their journeys of empowerment and growth.
The ultimate aim is to create a ripple effect of positive change by providing access to valuable information and support for people all around the world. I believe that through LHM Academia, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of many, and I’m excited about the possibilities it holds.
