There is no one on earth who doesn’t desire something big and worthwhile. Everyone has dreams with a sincere decision to achieve it and make meaning out of his or her life.
However, it is rather sad that not all have the zeal, passion, and motivation to give it all it takes. Thus, with time, most people accept the status quo and settle for what is available, rather than going for what they really want.
No one is exempted. Gradually, the happy moment and inspiration start going down.
There is little energy, creativity to work and pursue your dream. There is this drain mentally and emotionally.
There are times you feel all excited about going after your dream and yet it dries out. It could be starting a relationship, pursuing your entrepreneurial career, going after an important electoral position etc.
There are times all inspiration are lost and you just cannot explain what happened.
It is pretty easy to commence the pursuit of your dream.
Everyone can start this. However, the ability to persevere when the going gets tough is what matters. The ability to keep the momentum alive to ensure that despite all odds, the dream becomes a reality is very vital.
This is where many people lose it. Most are fond of quitting at the slightest hindrance.
Low motivation is an avenue to test your commitment to your goal and dream. The fact is, your dream remains a dream except you give it all it takes and keep the zeal and inspiration up to achieve it.
The major fuel you need to achieve your pipe dream is your motivation. Whatever you are after, you need constant and effective motivation to keep going when the going gets tough.
It is easy as a parent to get discouraged easily during the process of raising their kids. College students need the motivation to keep striving to achieve the dream. An author need not get discouraged after a book is rejected by many publishers. A scientist needs constant zeal to keep striving to hit the target. An author needs constant motivation to finish a best seller masterpiece.
History, in particular, is filled with people who through motivation were able to hit the target, amidst several discouragement and hindrances.
JK Rowling’s Rise to Limelight
Just like many first time authors, JK Rowling struggled to get her first book published.
The book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was turned down by more than a dozen publisher.
Now that is enough to get one down and depressed enough to abandon a dream. Rowling, however, kept pressing on and as luck would have it, Bloomsbury realized the potential in the book and chose to publish it.
The chairman of the publishing house presented only the first chapter to Alice, his then eight-year-old daughter. Alice, wowed by the content of the book, immediately demanded the rest of the book on finishing the first chapter.
Even though this still didn’t really convince Bloomsbury, he published it.
Today JK Rowling is a celebrity and one of the best sellers in the Unit Sellers. There is no one who wouldn’t have heard of, or read the Harry Potter novels.
Her dream of becoming the best seller would have died just like that had she succumb to the discouragement from the previous publishers that turned her down.

Barack Obama’s Rise to Power
Even if you are not familiar with the history of JK Rowling, you should be aware of the past U.S. President – former President Barack Obama. The moment when it was announced that Obama won the presidency was a truly historic moment, yet his ascension to power didn’t come on a platter of gold.
Obama is a strong believer of the fact that despite all odds if you work hard and you are determined, you cannot be stopped. Here’s a quote by him.
“If you work hard and meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead, no matter where you come from, what you look like or whom you love.”
My interpretation of the above is that if your motivation is not lost, nothing can stop you. And this was evident in his life.
During Obama’s first campaign, 2006 to 2008, Obama battled lots of critics that were against his ethnicity and citizenship. Many people have succumbed to the voice of critics and allowed it to kill their dream. This was not the case of Obama.
Past President Barack Obama never allowed the opposition to kill his motivation. He is a strong believer in the fact one can achieve anything in the world irrespective of the age, tribe, background.

Motivation is a Strength
There are many things that can affect one’s motivation. Even when you are so keen on getting something accomplished, there are factors beyond your control that can drain your motivation just like a punctured balloon.
It could be the loss of a loved one, critics like the case of former President Obama, loss of a loved one, people who wouldn’t believe in you like JK Rowling, not having an immediate reward for your hard work, being overwhelmed etc.
Asides, you need to be careful of things that can drain your motivation. Things like your immediate environment, personal insecurities, inferiority complex, unhealthy relationships etc could take its toll on one’s zeal to keep going!
What to Do When Your Motivation is Lost?
Confronting your fear is the best way to get rid of it. Thus, on losing motivation, you have got to face it and correct the situation.
A car owner, for instance, will do all in his capacity to fix a car that wouldn’t start since that is his means of getting to work every morning. Even if he has to spend money, he doesn’t mind due to the fact that the reward and usefulness of the car being in good condition supersedes the stress that comes with fixing the car.
In like manner, should you lose motivation; you have got to give it all it takes to get it.
Your motivation is part of the critical ingredients to get your pipe dream into reality. The end result should always be your target.
That alone is enough to keep you going, irrespective of the odds and hindrances on your path!
Regaining lost motivation is pretty easy and possible. In fact, it is much easier than you think.
Taking a simple and realistic step to becoming committed and enthusiastic throughout the journey can keep you on the path to success!
