I Started Posting on YouTube Shorts. Here’s What Happened.

I became a mom 2 months ago, and my newest obsession is simplifying my business as much as possible so I can be present for my baby girl.

But at the same time, I want to grow my brand in 2026, build authority and double my revenue.

One of the many things I’m doing about it is repurposing content. And in this post, I want to talk about what happened once I started posting short videos on YouTube Shorts.

How I Discovered YouTube Shorts

I read this post by Gary Vee, who’s quite the expert on social media and is my go-to person for trends in the industry.

He made a point that most creators aren’t posting enough and aren’t on enough platforms online.

Here’s what the says:

“Everyone needs to post more often and on more platforms: YouTube Shorts, Facebook classic, Snapchat Spotlight, Substack, LinkedIn, X. You all need to be on more.

And just “posting content” isn’t enough if you’re not really leveraging the full potential of a platform. With YouTube Shorts, yes, there’s real organic reach, but make sure you’re being smart about search-based titles to help keep your content more evergreen in the long run.

Because YouTube Shorts is a major opportunity. Unlike Instagram Reels, unlike TikTok, YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world. That YouTube Short can live for a very long time. When you name the video, think about naming it for people who are searching it. Just taking the video you’re doing on Instagram and TikTok, bringing it over to YouTube Shorts, and just naming it smartly, from a search perspective, will disproportionately grow the opportunity of your awareness and branding.”

And so that’s what I did.

Why YouTube Shorts Are a Golden Opportunity

YouTube Shorts are basically YouTube’s version of short-form video. Think quick, vertical clips that people scroll through on their phones.

Shorts can be up to 60 seconds long. They appear in a dedicated feed inside YouTube where viewers swipe from video to video.

It feels very similar to TikTok or Instagram Reels but the big difference is discovery. YouTube pushes Shorts to new viewers even if they don’t follow you yet. That’s why many creators use them to reach people outside their audience.

Another nice part is repurposing.

A video you already posted on TikTok or Instagram can be uploaded to Shorts as is. This makes it one of the easiest ways to extend the life of content you already made.

I Reposted My Videos on YouTube Shorts for 7 Days

Now, let me share what happened when I actually started leveraging this feature.

Here’s some context:

I’m already posting short videos on TikTok and Instagram (the same content on both platforms). So I knew that uploading the same to YouTube will take me literally no time.

I also didn’t spend any time researching or figuring out how to optimize well. I just went for it and took action.

Over the course of 1 week, I posted around 14 videos. And that got me over 14K views, 100 likes and a few subscribers.

I genuinely didn’t expect such traction.

And yes, views don’t necessarily mean conversion, or that it’s the right kind of people I want in my audience or that anything else will happen from here on. But still, it’s great motivation to keep going and see what opportunities the platform has in store for me.

One video might flop on IG, but take off on YouTube. You never know. And you only need one to hit.

More entry points equals more authority signals.

This is the simple content distribution plan

I don’t create separate content for every platform. I create once, then I distribute strategically.

It goes like this:

  1. One short-from video filmed once.
  2. Posted on IG.
  3. Repurposed on TikTok.
  4. Uploaded to YouTube Sorts.

What’s Next

Obviously, this is just the beginning. It’s literally my progress from 1 week. But I just started posting without thinking too much, researching or preparing anything. And it works well.

This is the creator economy, this is the power of social media and platforms like YouTube. And short form videos can work well for anyone in any niche.

So, if you’re creating Reels already, this is your invitation to quickly start a YouTube channel and upload them there as YouTube shorts.

Do it for a few weeks and see how it goes. Each time you post doesn’t need to take you more than a minute.

I simply add a video title, and a description with a few hashtags. It’s that simple.

Go for it, and let me know how it goes.
