Why I Love Blogging: 7 Reasons It’s The Best Business Model

I love blogging. I often think that lately as I do anything related to my blog, and I realized I’ve never actually shared why I love it so much.

Sure, I’ve written about the benefits of it and why it’s worth pursuing this business model, I’ve shared what I love about it in different pieces of content, but never dedicated one post solely about it, so here we go.

If you’re on the fence, maybe it will give you reasons to start your blog or keep working on your existing website no matter how long it takes because the long-term benefits are just magical.

Why I Love Blogging

1. It’s my creative outlet.

I love writing, and blogging is the business model that allows you to write (for your own platform, not for others) and earn from it.

Writing is a form of therapy for me. It’s also the best way to express myself and something I can do with ease daily.

Actually, that’s the reason this site became what it is. It began as a hobby but as I created more content (back then only on personal growth), it got traffic and brands started contacting me for sponsorships.

I then learned more about blogging as a business and monetized the site in different ways. Since then I create content for other platforms too (email list, my other blogs, courses, the membership, and socials), but I always come back to the blog to create new content or update old posts.

2. It’s great for introverts.

Blogging is the business model that doesn’t require you to show your face (aside from having your image on your About page and on socials as a profile picture maybe).

You also don’t need to produce any video or audio content if you don’t want to. You don’t need to be the face of the business, because people come to your blog for the content.

Still, don’t remain anonymous. Show your personality through your writing, and as mentioned, have your picture as least on your About page, where you’ll also share your story.

This allows readers to relate to you and know this site isn’t run by a big team, but by an individual who’s passionate about what they do.

3. You grow together with your blog.

Blogging will teach you discipline. You’ll learn a lot as you grow the site. You’ll build better habits and become a better version of yourself.

Of course, you can also skip all that but then you won’t really turn your blog into a business.

If you want that, you’ll need to change your mindset, become productive, show up for your business even when you don’t feel like it, make many mistakes, keep going no matter what, overcome the challenges of running a one-man business, and so much more.

The end result is that you keep growing together with your blog, and I think that’s amazing.

4. You can change direction.

The next reason why I love blogging as a business is that you can start your journey in one niche, but enter another, or cover many topics as your life gets to a next stage.

If you become a parent, for example, you will have more to share on that topic and can incorporate it into what you’re already teaching.

That might even help you attract a more specific audience, such as new parents who want to learn what you’re teaching through your content.

It’s possible that you outgrow the blog niche you started with and move onto something completely different. You can also start creating courses (like I did) and that requires different skills and strategies.

The good news is that blogging doesn’t restrict you to one topic or one business model.

You can offer coaching or freelancing services on the side. You can start a second and a third blog. And so much more. There’s room for growth.

5. You get to share your journey.

Again, that’s how everything started for me. I was sharing what I was learning, reading and thinking about on the topic of self-improvement.

I slowly learned more about blogging and began publishing eBooks, created my email list, and optimizing my content so it can rank well and bring me more traffic.

But the initial idea was just to share my journey, which has so many benefits. It allows you to find like-minded people, to let it all out instead of keeping your thoughts to yourself, to inspire others who will one day stumble upon those articles.

It’s a win-win for everyone. And you can also monetize those old posts in many ways (affiliate marketing, ads, sponsorships, growing your email list, etc.)

6. Your blog will always be there for you.

Something else I can say after being a blogger for over 10 years is that your blog will always be there for you.

When you feel good, when you feel bad, when you’re going through big changes in your life – you can always write about it, or you can just distract yourself by getting some blogging tasks done.

7. Creating impact.

One way or another, your blog content will help people.

Probably many of your posts contain tips and tricks, how-tos, lists with ideas, or are inspiring (you share your thoughts, realizations, lessons, insider knowledge, etc.)

That’s why getting traffic to your blog (with SEO, Pinterest, social media, etc.) is crucial. You want to not just monetize your blog, but also help this content reach the right people so they can benefit from it.

I often get emails from people who read an old article of mine and want to thank me, to say it inspired them or made them take some action in their business. That’s why I do what I do.

Helping others is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your life, and sharing your knowledge on a blog is one great way to do that.

Why do you love blogging?

So these are my reasons for loving blogging as a business so much. I’d do it for free (that’s what I did in the beginning, after all).

It’s so important to enjoy the business model you’ve chosen. This makes it fun to learn more, grow, make changes, adjust, keep up with the industry, connect with others, monetize, and never stop creating content.
