Is Blogging Dead in 2025 and Beyond + How to Adjust
Are you wondering ‘Is blogging dead? Do people still read blogs? What’s the future of blogging and is it worth starting a blog?’
You’re not alone. Beginner bloggers often use this as an excuse not to turn their blog idea into reality. And those who’ve been blogging for a while now might actually give up because they think blogs aren’t relevant and profitable anymore.
Hopefully, this article will change your mind.

Is Blogging Dead in 2025 and beyond?
I started my main website, Let’s Read Success, in 2013. So that’s over 10 years ago. While a lot has changed in the industry, one thing is sure. Blogs are still relevant.
You can still make money blogging, there are more tools than ever available at your disposal, content management systems are well-optimized and helping you rank as long as you produce great content and learn SEO, and plenty of bloggers are earning a full-time living from this.
Just recently I interviewed a few of them.
You can enter almost any niche, no matter how big or small it is. Your blogging strategy may vary based on that, but the potential for growth and profit is there.
I believe in this business model more than ever. In fact, it’s my main focus again, after I spent nearly 2 years prioritizing my course business.
I absolutely love blogging and it never gets boring. There’s always another task to take care of, you can get creative with your content and work on things you’re passionate about. You can watch your metrics grow, monetize in different ways and slowly but steadily grow your income streams.

How to tell if blogging is still relevant
If you need more proof that blogging is not dead, there are ways you can see for yourself.
Search for income reports of bloggers.
Go to sites of bloggers in your industry and study them. Try to see how they might be monetizing it. Maybe there are affiliate links inside articles, opt-in forms everywhere so they can get people on their list, digital products they are selling, or a media kit or page for advertisers (which shows they work with brands and earn from blog sponsorships).
One of the reasons you might have doubts whether blogging is still worth it could be that you spend too much time on social media or YouTube and know how popular video content is.
It sure is, and it’s only becoming more popular as you’ll see from the list of blogging trends below. That’s also the case with podcasts.
But people are still reading content online, new blogs are still being launched all the time, platforms like Medium are booming because many big publications started/moved their blogs there, and also existing blogs in all niches have been growing.
If you find that kind of stats online, if you surround yourself with readers and bloggers, then you won’t wonder whether blogging is dead.
But if you do consume more video and audio content and learn from influencers rather than bloggers, you might think you’ll be left behind if you don’t do what they do.
So you might want to get back to reading content, search for blogs in your industry, subscribe to some of their newsletters and follow their growth closely. Things with blogs are usually happening behind the scenes.
Many small blogs are earning their owners 5 figures a month through strategic affiliate marketing, sales funnels and brand partnerships. But often there’s no way to hear about that unless they disclose their revenue.
To this day I’m finding new bloggers every now and then.
Now I just started following a new person, Angela from StrayCurls. I subscribe to their newsletter. I’m learning from them mainly about Pinterest.
Now I’m going to interview them on my blog and this way we’re collaborating, which is really nice. I’m also learning a lot from them. She just shared how she started earning 3K/month from a new website. She got traffic to it only from Pinterest.
So all these things are possible. You just have to surround yourself with the people who are doing it so you can take action every day.
That’s why I love interviewing bloggers.
Here you can read over 100 success stories like that. If at least one of them inspires you, if you find out about one new blogger that you want to follow and learn from or study their website or sign up to their newsletter, I’ve done my job.
That’s why I used to publish monthly blog income reports years ago. To show people it’s possible, to reveal exactly what numbers are involved in this type of business (both the earnings and the expenses). To inspire them to keep working on their blog (or start one if they haven’t already) and give it some time so it can actually have some traffic and be monetized.
Now, I only publish monthly income reports inside my membership and community for bloggers Fearless Bloggers.
You’re welcome to join if you need a place online to learn, level up, ask all your blogging questions and be part of a community of like-minded people.
Do people still read blogs?
Of course. That’s a fantastic way to publish long-form content and there will always be people who prefer reading online over watching videos or listening to podcasts. I’m one of them.
But you can take this further by making your platform more than just a blog. It can be a whole community thanks to your email list, your presence on socials, showing your personality in your content and forming relationships with people.
Many bloggers have a podcast, YouTube channel, courses, a Facebook group or membership and that allows people to connect with them and get support, to get access to different forms of content and to also meet others from the same community.
The final verdict is that:
Blogging is not dead but it is changing.
Due to Google updates and the AI driven search that’s evolving right now, many bloggers have lost their traffic and with that their income.
For some it happened after the helpful content update from September 2023. For others, it was after the spam updates released this year in March and in August. And for some, right after AI overviews – Google’s latest feature that’s already quite a big deal and which was launched in many countries just recently.
A lot of the search now is happening through AI tools and the results people get are different. It’s not always content sites and it’s not always those that have been ranking for those same keywords for years now.
Everything is changing with search engines. My traffic is down a lot and I just released a video training for members of Fearless Bloggers Pro to explain why and what I’m doing about it as well as some other industry updates that they need to know.
I know this can be scary and if you hear about bloggers losing their traffic all the time, you might consider giving up. But that doesn’t need to be the case.
3 Ways to Prepare for The Future of Blogging
Things are evolving and we need to adjust so here are 3 ways to do that.
1. Diversify your traffic sources.
Most of us are used to relying on Google and I’ve always been one of those people. Now that things have changed, though, even if you produce the best content ever, a lot of it and follow all the guidelines provided directly by Google, you might not see any traffic.
Less quality sites and content might rank before you in the search results page and that can happen for different reasons.
If you’re a small publisher, there is little you can do about it. As a big one, you can do paid advertising or hire people to help you out, of course. So while you don’t need to forget about Google as it’s still the main search engine, there are some things you can do differently.
For a start, you can have a second and third and even fourth traffic source.
Pinterest is a great one, you know I always recommend it.
Another one is your email list so focus more on growing it. Here are 10 ways to monetize it.
It could also be a podcast or YouTube channel if you have time for that.
It could be any social media platform as long as you create content consistently for it and show up, engage with people and build a community. It could also be Reddit.
The content format and the rules and strategies for each of these platforms are different and it will take time to master them. It’s like a whole other project on top of all that you’re already doing as a blogger, but I think it’s worth it. This way you won’t put all your eggs in one basket and new Google algorithm updates won’t affect your business and mental health so much.
2. Aim to rank in AI overviews.
As mentioned, Google has a new tool and it’s affecting the search results. We don’t know if it will last or how it will evolve and affect us further but we see that Google is prioritizing it already and it might be here to stay.
The featured snippets section in Google are those special boxes in the search results and they appear at the top. Their goal is to quickly answer your questions. Well, now AI overviews appears on top of that and it’s pushing content sites down.
So there’s one thing we can do. Make the most of it and boost your chances of being featured in that section. There are ways to optimize content so it can rank in AI overviews.
It’s mostly about creating high-quality content and focusing on authority. Read all about AI overviews and learn how it works exactly.
While Google might be saying there is nothing we need to do differently to rank in those results, it looks like most publishers are affected and losing traffic because of it. So some sites are already ranking better than others.
Keep in mind Google’s spam policy and don’t do anything that is unnatural. Meaning, actions taken with the hope to deceive search engines and rank your pages higher.
That’s keyword stuffing, writing for search engines and not for people, creating a lot of thin content with AI and which provides no real value but is just with the goal of bringing you traffic or some sneaky redirects on your website or anything like that. All this is spammy.
3. Create people-first content.
Let go of the SEO principles you followed till now and take it easy with optimization. Instead, create the content your readers really need and write with them in mind.
Solve their problems, write in an engaging way and naturally include keywords as well as do internal linking to make sure that Google recognizes the topic you are covering quickly.
Can you still make money blogging in 2025 and beyond?
Absolutely. The standard ways to monetize a website are still relevant and so many bloggers are earning in multiple ways. We’re talking about advertising, affiliate marketing, selling products or services, sponsorships and anything in between.
You can monetize your newsletter, partner with brands on socials, offer coaching, create printables, bundle your digital products and so much more. Just make sure you diversify so when one income stream goes down or disappears, you can rely on the others.
2025 and any year after that continues being a great opportunity to start and grow a blogging business. To monetize it in new ways, grow your audience and traffic, create better content, build authority and also build your brand outside of just your blog. On other platforms where you can also provide value and connect with people. It’s just that things will be a bit different from now on.
With so much AI content out there, you need to keep creating original pieces and not get tempted to use AI tools. With AI driven search, you need to do SEO a bit differently. With Google’s constant updates and lost traffic due to that, you may need to not rely on them 100% for your traffic.
