TikTok Updates After 6 Weeks of Using It as a Creator
I recently joined TikTok and started creating short videos.
Here, you can read why I started using the platform and how I do it as a blogger.
It’s been around 6 weeks so I decided to share how things have been going so far.
What I’ve Been Up to So Far
While my following isn’t growing that much and the number definitely isn’t significant (which is why most new creators give up too soon and end up being discouraged), I’m in it for the long-haul.
I’m still discovering my style, the exact topics I’d cover, who I want to target, how often I should post, what kind of posts perform better, etc.

I’m not really jumping onto trends, I’m just doing my thing. Although I loved the ‘I met my younger self for coffee’ trend.
I also don’t show my face in videos or posts (only maybe once a month by using a photo of me), and I cover many topics. So these may be some of the reasons why nothing big is happening yet.
I’m fine with that.
I track all posts in a spreadsheet, I started using a maximum of 5 keywords per post (and making them more general than I actually want to), as well as getting more creative with videos.
It’s not easy for me to stick to one topic, especially since I haven’t discovered what actually sticks and what people want from me.
It can be blogging, business, money, mindset, manifestation, productivity, inspiration, deep thoughts, daily routines, etc.
It’s not the hottest topics on the app, such as beauty, fashion, cooking, fitness, DIY, get ready with me, home renovation, etc. But it’s important to stick to what I know and what I’m passionate about.
Content ideas
This I have more than I can ask for. There are over 60 videos in my drafts in TikTok ready to be published, and sometimes I have to stop myself from posting a 3rd or 4th time that day and save it for the next.
I like that each thought, idea and realization can be turned into a new video, and each of them can go viral and reach many people and inspire them.
I’m slowly opening up (such as sharing more about my exact monthly revenue, business journey, morning routine, thoughts from my daily walk in the park, etc.) and finding out things I enjoy creating videos about the most (such as working from cute cafes or sharing how easy my Mondays are or what blogging tasks I did that day exactly).
Soon I’ll be sharing a lot from my trip to Morocco (or at least making a million videos and photos there that I can later use as background for any content I want to create for TikTok). And from April on, about my new home office (as I’m moving from a studio to an apartment and to a new city).
These are 2 topics that generally do better on TikTok, so let’s see.
Of course, I also stay true to myself, only create the content that feels right (which is what I teach inside Fearless Content ), and follow my creative energy and passion.
I also try to spend less time on the app as a consumer, only follow people and content that inspire me or educate me, and keep in mind that this is still just a side project for me and I don’t depend on whether or not something big will happen there. But I’m open to big things.
I think that’s a nice mindset to have.
The Strategy
On a more strategic note, I also sat down one day 3 weeks ago to do keyword research.
I created a list of over 100 keywords related to blogging that bloggers can use on TikTok. I also used a tool to check the actual traffic of some.
I sometimes create videos and posts targeting keywords from the list but I don’t want this list to limit me.
I’d get bored if I only talk about blogging there. And it’s not such a popular topic.
Also, most people there aren’t familiar with blogging as a business. That means more general blogging posts can do well, but that also more technical stuff and advanced strategies won’t get much attention.
People on TikTok usually want to make quick money and ideally, from TikTok.
They prefer not to do too much work upfront, and that’s why accounts of business owners and content creators who make earning money online seem easy get a lot of attention.
Often, the case might be that these people don’t know online business that well but present things well on TikTok, got the audience, sell a small digital product or something like that, and make a lot of money from it + from brands sponsoring them + affiliate marketing.
So be careful who you follow and who you trust. That applies to any platform, of course.
Being Consistent
Another thing I want to celebrate is my consistency – the hardest part for some.
In February, I posted around 44 videos, and in January 27. While it costs me a lot of time, it’s little to no effort because I’m having fun.
Consistency is key on socials.
I’m also big on repurposing content, so I don’t need to create it from scratch. And I can easily use content from blog posts, podcast episodes, courses, posts from my old IG account or anything else I’ve created, and share it as a new piece of content on TikTok.
My Initial Idea
I love documenting my journey and my initial idea for TikTok was to actually take people behind the scenes of my business and how I do my work. So I was recording things like sending a newsletter, writing and publishing a new post, creating Pinterest graphics in Canva, answering emails, etc.
This can give you an idea of what bloggers actually do, which many people still aren’t sure about.
Sometimes I’d record 20-30 minutes of work, then speed it up and turn it into a 20-40 second video. I might make it darker and with white text, list the tasks I completed or share something inspiring about business.
I use the app CapCut for video templates and directly post them to TikTok from there.
New templates are being added all the time and they are just amazing. It would take me a lot of time to create something similar, so this app might be a tool you need if you too want to make more and interesting short videos.
Final words
So these are the updates from my TikTok journey for now. Let me know if you have any questions and if you too are figuring out how to make the most of the app.
If you’d like to tag along, my account is @bloggingwithlidiya .
If you prefer Instagram, I repost all the videos from TikTok there on my new account with the same name .
