Inside Business by Design by James Wedmore: 2025 Review (From Someone Who Bought It)
A couple years ago I purchased Business by Design by James Wedmore. And whether you’re familiar with it, follow James and want to invest in his program, or this is the first time you hear about it but are looking for a business training to invest in, this post will help you decide if it’s for you.
In this review, I’ll share more about the program, my experience with it, what you get, how much it costs, and what you can expect if you join this year.
It only opens its doors for 4 days a year (in June), so this information will help you learn more about the offer and program so when it’s action time, you can just go for it.
Let’s dive in.

Who’s James Wedmore
He’s my business mentor and someone I’ve been following for many years now.
He’s an entrepreneur who started from nothing and scaled his business to $12M/year.
He created his first online course in 2007, and it took him 5 years and 12-hour workdays to get to his first $100K.
Today, he hosts virtual events with +70,000 registrants, 1,000 person conferences, has a top rated podcast (the Mind Your Business podcast), a big following on socials, and tens of thousands of students who’ve taken his training or have worked with him in other ways and have built successful businesses thanks to that.
He’s also into spirituality, and shares a lot about that on the podcast. This makes his teachings unique and genuine.
What’s Business by Design
Business by Design, or BBD, is his signature program for online entrepreneurs who want to build a business selling digital products or other offers such as coaching.
In it, he teaches anything you need to know from his experience of nearly 2 decades in the marketing space. He helps you not just create your digital product, but also launch it, build an audience and sell it strategically, build systems that create passive income, outsource, and so much more.
BBD costs $3K, but it’s one of those programs you keep coming back to. It’s updated often, there are plenty of live calls with James every year, as well as office hours with his team to keep you accountable, there’s a big community of like-minded entrepreneurs you’re joining, and many bonuses.
The value never stops. You get more than what you pay.
Why I Joined BBD
I’m a blogger, but I began creating courses and other digital products many years ago. That’s a whole different business model and there’s so much to learn about it. I wanted to learn from an expert, to have proven processes for launching products (and doing beta launches) that I could follow.
BBD was the biggest business program I’ve ever invested in, so it was a big decision for me many years ago. Now, I’m going through it again.
The main reason why I joined it is because I trust James and wanted to learn directly from him, to be more in his energy, and to see the exact processes he follows in his business. He shares all that inside BBD and more.
I learned every little detail I needed to know about creating, marketing and selling a digital product, and went onto launching many more products in my business.
I used the same principles for my membership too. It can be applied to any offer.
Another thing I love about BBD is the accountability (which we all need). There’s a big and engaged community, people post their wins all the time, there’s a lot going on in the Facebook group, and it keeps you going.
Also, there are regular live calls with James in the first months after you join, so that keeps you coming back to the program until it turns into a habit.
It’s designed as a ‘choose your own adventure’ type of program. You may only need help with some aspects your business. It meets you where you’re at.
What people rave about the most is the section with processes and the launch execution guides, which you can simply follow step-by-step and save a ton of time and effort. Figuring it out yourself is not necessary. We need to be smart with our resources and focus on the work that only we can do and on the income-generating activities.
What’s Included in The Program
The Modules
It’s a ‘choose your own adventure’ type of program and teaches you how to plan for the next 90 days in your business and then execute that plan.
Once you join, you get immediate access to all modules of BBD. These are the core trainings and topics (+ the bonuses and they include whole other courses and trainings, more on that later.)
Here are the different modules:
Module 1: Business by Design – create a business that rules your passions and creativity and generates the revenue you want.
In this section, James helps you create your strategy, shows you how to actually use BBD, join the community, talks about the 4 phases of business, and there’s also a meditation and a bonus video in it.
Module 2: Woking by Design – master the habits and strategies of being super-effective in everything you do. Discover easier, quicker ways to get things done and eliminate distractions.
Here, James helps you map out an efficient way to work smarter, not harder. You define your breakthrough year, identify and map out your revenue goals, and do the Mount Everest Exercise for 90 Day Cycles.
You’ll learn how James runs his business, how they operate as a team and how their project based systems work.
In addition, you’ll learn about the Ascension Model and how to implement a product path within your business.
He also covers the fundamentals of marketing and what a Direct Response is.
Module 3: Offer by Design – learn the steps and methods to help you craft a homerun, irresistible offer.
Part 3 is all about your offer. You get video trainings on:
- Defining the promise of your offer, who it’s for and how you’ll deliver it;
- Identifying the transformation, results, and solution your offer promises;
- Determining your price;
- What bundles and bonuses you can add;
- How to overcome customer objections of risk and create a winning guarantee;
- Implementing scarcity and urgency with your offer;
- Infusing your story into your offer;
+ a meditation to help you find and connect with your ideal client.
Module 4: Sales by Design – create a sales system that effectively sells your product while creating demand and desire without having to rely on pushy and outdated sales techniques.
Here you’ll learn how to use great messaging to create demand and desire for what you sell.
James will provide you with the ‘big picture’ of the messaging framework and will take you through exercises to identify your ideal client as well as know and communicate their struggles.
In addition, you’ll learn how to:
- create the best types of content by identifying the biggest mistakes your audience is making;
- take your audience from where they are to where they want to be;
- leverage case studies within your sales system;
- communicate your customer’s first steps;
- create the kind of content that will help you sell more;
- use the ‘pivot and pull’ method;
- identify the right launch for you.
All in all, this is a very important module that you should keep coming back to.
Module 5: Team by Design – strategically build a team to grow your business no matter what your budget or what stage of business you’re in, so you can focus on the things you were meant to do.
He covers:
- The 4 phases of team building and determining which one you’re in;
- Learning how to lead, manage, refine and evolve your role as an entrepreneur;
- The who, how and why of hiring for your defined needs;
- How to hire your first VA step-by-step;
- The project management systems and processes used by team Wedmore for successfully completing assignments and reaching goals.
That’s the only module I haven’t gone through yet because I’m a solopreneur. But that’s a weakness and it means I’m doing all the things.
So many BBD students shared inside the FB group how they avoided outsourcing for as long as possible, only to realize it was the one thing stopping them from growing.
They said how this module of BBD helped them hire a great VA, on a budget, and take back hours and hours of their time weekly so they can focus on growth activities.
Module 6: Scale by Design – build momentum in your business and then ride that momentum to scale your business, to grow it 2x, 5x and even 10x more, all without working 10 times harder.
The final of the core modules of Business by Design by James Wedmore is all about scaling and increasing your results.
It starts with the Debrief process which happens post-launch. You’ll get a template for that and this is a big part of your launch – going through what happened, analyzing why, and deciding what to do differently next time.
James also talks about what to do when a launch fails.
You’ll learn how to increase the performance of your launch or promotion by understanding your Earnings Per Lead metrics.
There’s also trainings on the 5 unique ways to increase the performance of your launch and your launch list, and automation.
Bonus Module
In your BBD dashboard, you’ll also find the Attraction Module, which is a bonus.
It contains trainings on ways to build a following and attract an audience, what types of content bring leads and customers, and a series of processes designed to walk you through creating content that attracts on multiple platforms.
You’ll learn how to choose your platform, create content, and promote it.
Live Training and Office Hour Coaching
The next big thing you’ll find in Business by Design is the section with live calls and office hours. Here’s what that is exactly.
Once you join BBD, James will be doing live trainings every 2 weeks or so. There’s a total of 8 of these, without counting the welcome call. And each (including the welcome call) is long and absolutely valuable.
This is the perfect way to get into the right mindset for the program, and go through the first modules during those first weeks after joining.
You have momentum and accountability then and James goes live to pump you up, so that’s a great chance to get more done and even prepare your first paid offer before launching it.
You can browse all previous live trainings from your member portal.
James also has a team of coaches and they are available for BBD members. You’ll get the chance to join the office hour coaching they provide. I never did because it’s not my kind of thing, but it’s like group coaching and you get to ask your questions.
There are different calls based on the phase of your digital product business you’re in, so you can only sign up to the ones that will actually help (for example, on launching or on creating your offer or on finding your niche).
Also, watching other students get their questions answered can be helpful.
Some students join these calls weekly just for the accountability, and so they keep working on their business.
Launch Execution Guides + Step-by-Step Processes
This and the processes are what makes BBD unique.
The business processes include anything from creating and deploying a survey, designing the perfect landing page, building the perfect email campaign for your webinar, creating a Facebook ad campaign, getting testimonials and case studies from past clients, creating a video series for your launch, etc.
Plus, James and his team keep adding new ones, and the exact processes they’ve used in their multimillion business.
As for the launch execution guides, you get different launch processes based on your goals and can just replicate them. That can be the ‘Monetize Before You Make It’, the ‘Live Launch Process’, the ‘Webinar Launch’, the ‘Two-Day Profit Formula’, the ‘Challenge Launch’, and many more. These are really valuable resources.
The Bonuses
The bonuses Business by Design goes with are next level, so let me list them here.
- Mind Your Money: 31-Days to Manifesting More Money & Abundance.
That’s an audio course and it’s truly transformational.
- Program Design
A whole course on how to actually create an online program – it walks you through the process of taking what you have in your head and putting it into a practical and applicable program that others can follow.
It covers anything from creating the outline and your transformational and memorable framework, to testing and refining it, and digitally creating the content.
- Absolute Automation
Again, a whole course in the course. It’s about launching an automated offer. You’ll map it out and build the additional assets necessary for it such as the webinar opt-in and thank-you pages, the sales and checkout pages, the confirmation emails and follow-up sequence.
James also shows you how to do the webinar set-up, as well as automate the funnel and emails.
It also covers creating your funnel strategy, the ads for it and how to target them for success.
Last but not least, he gives you ways to upsell and downsell, earn more with payment plans, and an email template you can use.
It’s all in there for you to create a winning offer and start selling it on autopilot.
- Facebook Ads Training
A 3-part series by a FB Ads expert.
- Power of Process Video Series
In this 3-part series, James will help you divide your entire online business into 3 simple phrases so you know exactly where you are, run a six-figure launch using his 5-step framework, and launch before you actually create your product.
- Video Outsourcing Mini Course
Here you can learn how to hire virtual assistants from the Philippines, where to find video editors, what additional opportunities you have for outsourcing and what tools to use in the process.
- Course in a Weekend
Another mini course on how to create content quickly, get clarity on what to include and what not to include in a course, outline your program and get it out there.
- Profit-Producing Case Studies
Four case studies with BBD members who crushed it with their launches and share exactly how they did it.
The Affiliate Center
I’m a proud BBD affiliate. This means that I’ve signed up for the affiliate program James offered and can earn a commission any time someone signs up through any of my links (any of the links on this page).
James launches BBD once a year, for 4 days, and makes millions. And most of that revenue is generated through his affiliates, who tell their audiences about it. This really is built on trust.
But the benefit for you here is that once you join, you’ll be invited to become an affiliate too. And assuming you love the program, you’d say Yes to that opportunity.
If you promote the offer to your audience, you can make decent money from this, and help others. It’s a win-win.
There’s a whole affiliate center inside BBD as well as trainings for affiliates. We get many resources and support so we can do our best when promoting the program to our audience.
So, that’s the summary of the bonus material you get access to once you join BBD. Let me answer some other questions you may have about it.
What’s the price of Business by Design?
BBD costs $2,997.
It’s not just another course priced between $97 and $297. Because it’s much more than a course.
To be honest, the price was a stretch for me. But I knew a few things.
First, I trust James and his work 100%.
Second, the financial investment is equal to the effort and energy I’ll put into this.
Just think about the times you paid $20-$50 for a masterclass or another digital product or access to someone’s knowledge online. Probably it didn’t change your life.
Now think about that time you paid $100-$300 for the first time. You probably went through the course and took some action, even if you abandoned it later on.
Well, a $3K investment is what can take you to the next stage of your business. It also means you take responsibility for actually following through, going through the modules inside BBD, making use of the extra courses, being part of the community, and showing up for the live calls.
Who is this program for?
It’s for anyone who wants to sell something online, who wants to package their expertise and knowledge and turn it into a sellable program but who needs the exact step-by-step processes, strategies and guidance to do it right.
It’s ideal for content creators such as bloggers, podcasters, YouTubers or social media influencers who want to start offering a digital product.
It’s one of the best ways to monetize your platform/following, and it can turn into your next passive income stream.
It’s also great for service-based entrepreneurs who want to stop trading time for money.
Hell, one product/offer is even enough to make a living online, but only if you nail all the elements that are part of it.
BBD is also for the people who are willing to do the work, who aren’t looking for a shortcut or an easy way to make money, and who will take the responsibility that comes with owning a real online business.
James teaches mindset together with business, so be prepared to rewrite some limiting beliefs and take action from a different place.
Who is BBD not for?
This program isn’t for people who are looking for shortcuts or get-rich-quick schemes.
You need to do the work and you may not like it.
If you’re used to empty promises from self-proclaimed online gurus, this is not it. James has proven record in the industry, but teaches real systems, and that takes work and time.
If you want personalized support and expect answers to all your questions and special attention, this might not be it. Only 1:1 coaching does that.
You may feel like you aren’t heard inside the FB group or during the coaching calls, simply because there are many people already.
When are doors open?
It launches once a year, in June, and the dates vary.
In 2025, that’s June 9th to June 12th so keep your eyes open.
The best way to stay tuned is to sign up for the priority list here.
James is also releasing a free training every year (The Rise of The Digital CEO) which provides a lot of value but also helps you decide if BBD is for you. The link I just shared will give you access to that too.
What I didn’t like about the program
I know every honest review should include some cons together with the pros, but I simply can’t find any.
Of course the price could be less, but it’s so worth it. I believe investing this amount makes you actually take action on the course, create and launch your product, join the live calls, be part of the community and make the most of all the resources inside.
If it was $100-$500, you would probably leave it behind quickly and wonder why there are no results.
The bigger the investment, the more you’re energetically invested too.
One thing people might consider a disadvantage is that it can be overwhelming. There’s a lot inside Business by Design, and while for some that’s a good thing, for others it can feel like a project that can never be completed.
But it’s not meant to be consumed like average courses and in a specific order. It meets you where you’re at.
Final thoughts: Was it worth it?
Would I join Business by Design again? Yes.
Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes.
It keeps getting better, the community keeps getting bigger, the launches every year are so fun to be part of (and learn from), and I keep coming back to different sections from the program when I need them.
So that’s my review of Business By Design by James Wedmore.
Sign up for the priority list to hear about it first, and let me know if you have any questions. You can always email me at lidiya [at] letsreachsuccess.com so we can talk about it.
